Solution Constrain the parts in the same manner as they are constrained in the vehicle, by using the Laser Tracker to: Measure the registering points on the part Manipulate a best fit of the design points and measured points Scan the parts, particularly paying attention to: Areas of large surface variations Centres of holes Centres of anchor holes & slotted holes Key interface points on the plot The scanner will display in real time the variations between the part and CAD Model by a series of different coloured needle point plots.
Benefits The areas where the CAD Model need to be patched can readily be identified and additional data taken if required.
