Problem Outline

Verify the accuracy of the CAD drawing in comparison with actual parts.

Solution

Constrain the parts in the same manner as they are constrained in the vehicle, by using the Laser Tracker to:
Measure the registering points on the part
Manipulate a best fit of the design points and measured points
Scan the parts, particularly paying attention to:
Areas of large surface variations
Centres of holes
Centres of anchor holes & slotted holes
Key interface points on the plot
The scanner will display in real time the variations between the part and CAD Model by a series of different coloured needle point plots.

Benefits

The areas where the CAD Model need to be patched can readily be identified and additional data taken if required.
